New magazine Carts
by jonno12225 innews from my wife from the recent meeting is that our congregation will be recieving 2 new magazine carts for market witnessing.
we live in a small market town in north yorkshire and have regular street markets.. the congregation is small (75+ publishers, -1 now) so it seems that this is being rolled out pretty conprehensivly now to all congs.
i still have no info as to whether each congregation has to purchase these from the hq or costings per unit..

as the kids are quite young I wouldnt worry too much about them...it's amazing jusy how much WT stuff they don't take in if you let it be,
concentrate on the husband first. But don't assume because he is spiritually weak that he will fold. The JW spirituality status is all about how many hours door to door are done, nothing more. A wife going off the reservation can trigger questions in his mind that lead him to do MORE JW stuff not less in an attempt to bolster his weakness and bring you back in.
Learn well your enemy and read lots of how people handle things in similar situations.
oh and one more thing, Tell him nothing. Only ask him QUESTIONS to make him think....

I want my daughter to go to Uni, but not so much for the education in any particular field but for its education in life, the diversity of people and opinions. To be challenged to think, to question and to not accept that she just has to be a mummy and pop out babies (unless that is what she really wants)
I want her to see a wider world of oportunity outside small country town life which may be great during school years but does little to stimulate the mind after that.
Along the way i think (hope) she will find what she really wants to be involved in, and hopefully make a good living for her self.
Maybe she will become a doctor or a vet, a lawyer or a peace protester, i dont know, I dont care...so long as she has been exposed to oportunity and chooses.

Son was up visiting today and we had some great little chats about all things watchtower. I would say the chances of him going back are real slim now, for he was telling me of some of his own WTF research on the internet about them.
Anyway, at one point he came up, gave me a big hug and said "thankyou for making me think"
It seems that all the little seed dropping and question dropping over the last 3 years really did work! It DID make him question the JWs and their hold on him and his sister. He did admit that he was at pain sometimes wondering why i was doing it though.
He related one event that really troubled him just a few years ago, he spoke to an elder and asked him, seeing that you say we will all be happy in the new system, and that my dad won't be there, how will i be happy? I will not be happy if dad is not there...Elders answer: Jehovah will just make it like that...trust jehovah. sons response to himself "what? is jehovah going to fill me with morphine or something?"
he called the JWS and the WT evil. An evil cult messing with kids minds and giving them nightmares.
anyway, lots of little reassuring stuff from him, he is loving his life out of the borg. I just wanted to share with those who may have teenagers trapped in there, dropping little hints that all is not well in WT land, and making them question, CAN WORK

fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

personally i dont see what the fuss is about 'playing by their rules'. You go through whatever hoops they put out to accomplish your aims. It makes no difference to them if you get D/F, you DA or you fade or you go out in a blaze of wild fire shouting apostate teachings from the platform. You are still seen as bird food.
they miss you for 10 seconds and then they are back on the programed track of oh well jehovah cleansed him out and oh whats for dinner?
seriously, they remind me of a yard full of chickens all pecking at seed on the ground. Along comes a fox and snatches one, all squark and feathers flying. Then a minute after mr fox has gone they are back at pecking at the ground...like nothing happened

Not on jw.org, sister killed in a train crash which some investigators believe to have been a suicide!
by OneDayillBeFree init has been confirmed by some brothers on facebook that a 42 year old sister died today around 5pm when her suv got on the train tracks while the amtrak was crossing in the state of nc.
it came up on the news today although they never mentioned that she was one of jehovah's witnesses.
so where was jehovah's holy spirit in this matter?

why wouldn't they press charges?
It is their right to do so, it sends a message to other employess that you don't get to steal a years wages and walk away with a shoe up your butt.
How is their reputation at risk for taking legal action againts a theif?
It all adds up perfectly: an employee steals a bunch of money and probably 'can't do the time for the crime'. Added to the situation is her own mindset as a jw in crises.

by Las Malvinas son Argentinas ini was shown a hard copy of an email from a purported jw businessman who claimed he had contact with some un officials as part of his 'business'.
in conversation, he claimed that he blurted out and asked them when they were going to clamp down on religion as foretold in jw prophecy.
according to the account, the un official acted startled, and asked 'how do you know?'.

Indeed an old JW urban legend...back in the 80s it was ''a JW went to a door preaching and the person identified themselves as a high ranking UN official, who when asked about the UN clamping down religion, was all startled and demanded to know how this JW new of their secret plans''...
and thusly a new batch of JWs get to go ''ooh ahh and wow! We are sooooo the troof''!

Discussion with family member who is an Elder in our congregation
by Newly Enlightened inso about a week ago, i showed my cousin & her husband [an elder in our congregation] the picture on pg 29 of our 4/15/2013 study wt and asked, "if jesus is head of the congregation then where is he?".
after several minutes of searching, dead silence.. i then asked if they had heard the part on the 2012 summer district conv the part about "our spiritual mother, where the c.o said that "the bible by itself does not shine thru as life-giving truths just by itself.
" they were shocked and said that i must have misheard it because that would be apostasy.

This in context was the WT trying to demonstate how wrong evoltution is compared to creation, but perhaps they shot the whole Adam and Eve thing in the foot...
Now, to my way of thinking, what the WT said without saying back then (and nothing seems to have updated it) is that Adam and Eve must have had, aside from Cain and Able and unnamed daughters, also given birth to Neanderthals.
The Bible and JWs would not hold that there was an unknown Homo Sapien pair walking around giving birth to 'modern man' and 'neanderthal man', that then neantherthal died out leaving modern man, ie; Adam and Eve.
So the biblical and JW explanation must mean that Adam and Eve gave birth to Neanderthal man as well as the recorded children of Genesis. Both just enough the same (homo Sapien) but geneticaly also different enough for one to live on and the other not...
So Genesis just got buried under a mountain of shit...either Adam and Eve were not the first Homo Sapiens or if they were, they bore Neanderthal man.
In an effort to prove 'modern science' wrong didn't they instead prove genesis to be wrong?

So sorry you are in that situation. I too had a countdown going...conversations with my kids at 14 and 16 had me in the same boat. Fortunatley for me and them, they did not get baptized and have both abandoned the JWs.
what really boiled my blood was learning that the elders had told him that he had to curtail his time with me...even though the law said he had to see me.
I told my son when it looked like was going to commit to them something like this: "that that will be your mistake to make and trust me, you will live long enough to regret it. The fact that you won't let me explain why they are wrong is going to be your problem, not mine."
